62nd Annual (Virtual) Fair

Each year, students in Delaware County are involved in sophisticated research projects that focus on science topics in a variety of categories. The Delaware County Science Fair embraces a philosophy that students learn science by doing science. In the process, students meet various science standards and learn how to think and develop critical problem-solving skills that they will need for careers, college, and citizenship.

Before Experimenting - Fall 2020

Need help finding a topic for a Science Fair project? Try the Science Buddies Topic Selection Wizard quiz.

  • Begin using a log book and use it for the following:

    • What is the experimental question?

    • What does the research say?

    • Hypothesize

    • Develop an experimental procedure

    • Create a materials list

  • Complete all required forms:

    • Application and Registration Form

    • Complete ISEF forms 1, 1a, 1b, 3

    • If you need an IRB and/or SRC approval, submit required forms to

Resources, Rules, and Forms

  • Rules

  • Rules Wizard - find out which forms need to be filled out by answering 9 questions about your project

    • Note: Better safe than sorry! Projects with incomplete paperwork will be disqualified.

    • The Rules Wizard has been designed as a first step to help determine what forms and approvals are necessary before beginning a science fair project. Answer each of the 9 questions and a result page will provide a list of forms and information based on your answers; these forms and the accompanying rules should be reviewed closely with a teacher or mentor BEFORE experimentation begins.

    • This wizard is intended to be a helping tool, but cannot account for all specifics and situations of each individual project. Please be sure to review the International Rules. The ISEF SRC (Scientific Review Committee) is available via email ( to answer any specific questions.

  • Copies of all forms to be completed

    • The ISEF forms constitute written documentation of what will occur, or in some cases, has already occurred in a research project. They are designed to provide the information that is needed to review the project to ensure compliance with the ISEF rules and with laws and regulations that apply to the project. The forms should be filled out and signed before any research takes place. (Only Forms 1C, 5B, 7, and the abstract are done after the research.)
