Wilson® Accredited Training Partner
The Delaware County Intermediate Unit (DCIU) is part of the national network of Wilson Accredited Training Partners.
Wilson Language Training® and Wilson Accredited Training Partners have received Accreditation Plus by the International Dyslexia Association® (IDA). This designation recognizes that Wilson Reading System® certifications align with the IDA's Knowledge and Practice Standards for Teachers of Reading.
DCIU, as a Wilson® Accredited Training Partner, offers a variety of workshops and courses for professional learning. When staff are available or services are prearranged, the Delaware County Intermediate Unit can provide Wilson Reading System® direct instruction for individual or small groups of students for Delaware County schools or districts.
Wilson® Professional Learning
As a Wilson® Accredited Training Partner, DCIU provides professional learning and supports all Wilson® research-based, multisensory, structured reading and spelling programs for all ages. These hands-on professional learning programs are delivered by a Wilson® Credentialed Trainer.
Wilson® Professional Learning equips educators with evidence-based strategies, hands-on experience, and specialized tools to effectively support students' reading and improve student outcomes through targeted instruction.
WRS Introductory Course
The WRS Introductory Course is designed for educators who are new to Wilson Reading System (WRS). This foundational course provides an in-depth overview of the principles and practices that underpin Wilson's literacy approach.
This course is a prerequisite for WRS Level I Certification; it's helpful for all reading educators whether intending to pursue certification or not.
WRS Level I Certification
This course provides educators with the skills and knowledge to effectively implement the Wilson Reading System (WRS) Steps 1-6 with students who are reading and spelling below grade level, as well as those diagnosed with a language-based learning disability, such as dyslexia. It consists of both an online course and a practicum for WRS Steps 1-6.
WRS Advanced Strategies for MSL Group Instruction Course
The Wilson Reading System (WRS) Advanced Strategies for MSL Group Instruction Course is intended for educators who have completed initial Wilson training and are seeking to deepen their expertise. This advanced course focuses on more complex decoding and encoding strategies and enhancing the effectiveness of the Wilson Reading System for diverse student populations.
This course is a prerequisite for WRS Level II courses and practicums; it is applicable to all WRS Level I certified teachers to deepen their understanding of group instruction. It also provides Wilson® hours for maintaining the WRS Level I Certification.
WRS Level II Certification
These advanced courses are for individuals who have completed the Level I certification and are designed to deepen educators’ expertise in delivering the Wilson Reading System® (WRS) program, with a focus on further developing theoretical and practical understanding of WRS. This consists of two online courses and two practicums: WRS Group Mastery Practicum and WRS Steps 7 - 12 Practicum.
Fundations® Workshops Levels K-3
Tailored workshops for each level K-3 provide essential training in the Wilson Fundations program. These workshops offer a deep dive into the structured literacy techniques that support the development of phonemic awareness, phonics, word study, and handwriting skills in young learners.
Just Words ® Workshop
Focused on the delivery of the Just Words program, this workshop helps educators support students with mild to moderate gaps in their decoding and spelling skills.
