The annual Delaware County Intermediate Unit Scripps Spelling Bee takes place in the early spring of each year. The champion of the spelling bee represents the Delaware County area in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. The Bee helps students improve their spelling, increase their vocabulary, learn language concepts, and develop correct English usage that will help them all their lives. In addition to the academic benefits, students also develop important life skills that will help them as they advance in school and eventually to successful careers.

2025 DCIU Spelling Bee Competition Information
Logistics:
📅 Date: Saturday, February 22, 2025 (inclement weather date: Saturday, March 1, 2025)
⏰ Speller check-in: 8:30 AM
⏳ Competition begins: 9:00 AM
📍 Location: Delaware County Technical High School – Aston Campus (100 Crozerville Rd., Aston Township, PA 19014)
Participation Details:
- Each registered school may send two students to compete.
- School champions must be reported to spellingbee.com no later than Friday, February 14, 2025.
Preparation Resources:
- Schools receive access to study materials, including the 2025 Words of the Champions list, after registering at spellingbee.com.
- School champions should use this list to prepare for the competition.
National Competition:
🏆 The winner of the DCIU Spelling Bee will advance to the Scripps National Spelling Bee near Washington, D.C., from May 25–May 31, 2025.
