The Teaching & Learning Training and Consultation (TaC) team provides technical assistance, on-site consultation, guided practice, professional development, and professional learning communities that support Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) initiatives and other areas related to special education.

Assistive Technology Lending Library

The DCIU Assistive Technology Lending Library provides LEAs with devices for trial purposes to determine the assistive technology needs of students with disabilities in the school environment only. School teams are encouraged to monitor use and collect data to determine the efficacy of the assistive technology. Assistive technology is available in the areas of augmentative and alternative communication, computer access, iPad/iPods and accessories, low tech tools, math tools and resources, reading tools and resources for the blind and visually impaired, and switch access.

Participants will learn about various assistive technology devices and how to facilitate their use with students to encourage participation in the general education classroom. Participants will learn about and be provided hands-on experience with low-tech devices, mid-tech devices, and high-tech devices. This is also an opportunity to network and share ideas with other educators.
