DCIU Non-Public School Services
Delaware County Intermediate Unit's Department of Pupil Services services Delaware County's nonpublic schools through a variety of auxiliary programs and services. The supplemental services benefit students in grades Kindergarten through Twelfth grade and aim to support their success within their regular education program. Depending on the size of the non-public school, each schools' individual needs, and available funds and personnel, services may include:
- Reading and Math Intervention
- School Psychological Services
- School Counseling Services
- Speech and Language Services
- Hearing Support
- Vision Support
The Delaware County Intermediate Unit provides services as the local education agency (LEA) to students attending nonprofit, nonpublic schools as mandated by state and federal regulations. The school must affirm the eligibility of students and facilitate the delivery of state- or federally-funded services.
The intermediate unit makes the final determination regarding what services shall be provided after consulting with the nonpublic school. In collaboration, the school and intermediate determine which general categories of children shall receive services, what services shall be provided, how and where the services shall be provided, and how the services shall be evaluated. Services do not carry an individualized entitlement for students but are subject to limitations of annual funding appropriations.
