Speech and Language
Consultative and services provided to students ages 3-21 in DCIU Programs, Nonpublic Schools, in-county Charter Schools and in county school districts as well as early intervention. Diagnostic evaluations identify student needs, and ongoing therapies are provided by speech and language pathologists (SLPs). Services may be delivered on site as well as virtually via telepractice. DCIU’s telepractice service is equivalent to the quality of services provided at a site and consistent with adherence to state and federal laws related to licensure, certification and student privacy. Candidacy for receiving telepractice services is discussed by the student’s IEP team in consideration of the culture, educational needs, and other characteristics that may influence the appropriateness of services. SLPs collaborate with teachers to help students access the general education curriculum and deliver specially-designed instruction.
