The County Alternative High School
The County Alternative (TCA) is a full-day special education program designed to provide a new educational experience for students who have had significant difficulties in previous school placements. Students receive a fully accredited high school academic program, a vocational exploration program, a structured behavior management system, and mental health support. In collaboration with Child and Family Focus, it is the mission of TCA to provide students with a high-quality educational program that addresses both the educational and behavioral needs of students, as well as providing clinical services that will facilitate the development of pro-social and problem-solving skills.

What does a typical day look like at TCA?
Students arrive at 7:30 and are dismissed at 2:00.
Students travel between classes for 10 periods per day.
Students attend 4 major content area classes: Math, Language Arts, Science and Social Studies.
Students can attend a pre-vocational class, either Culinary Arts or Carpentry.
Students receive group and individual counseling.
Students attend Health and Physical education.
Students have access to rewards periods in the game room or gym.
How to enroll a student at TCA?
Students are referred to TCA by the local school district. Parents can not directly enrol students into the TCA program.
Are TCA students court appointed?
No. TCA students are referred to the program by the local school district, not the court.
Can TCA students receive psychiatric services while enrolled in the program.
Yes. TCA partners with a local mental health provider, and psych evals can take place duirng the school day.
