Next Generation of Healthcare Heroes Graduates from DCIU’s Nursing Program

The Delaware County Intermediate Unit (DCIU) proudly celebrated the achievements of the Practical Nursing Program (PNP) students at a graduation ceremony on February 13 at the DCTS Aston Campus.

Thirty-eight graduates were honored for their passion, perseverance, and dedication as they take the next step in their nursing careers. Having completed rigorous training, these future healthcare heroes are now prepared to serve their communities with skill, compassion, and commitment.

The event began with a Nurse’s Prayer led by Alvin Deegon, followed by commencement speaker Seanice Tyler, who reflected on the shared experiences among classmates, acknowledging both the hardships and triumphs that led to graduation.

The ceremony featured several prestigious awards:

  • Jasmine Woodland received the Clinical Excellence Award – Recognizing outstanding clinical performance and dedication to community service.
  • Jamila Sow received the Leadership Award – Honoring a graduate who has demonstrated scholastic achievement, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to professional nursing.

Additionally, Esther Fortune, Jamila Sow, and Dickinson Yeboah earned the program’s highest GPAs. The National Adult Honor Society inducted the following students: Dickson Yeboah, Shaniya Edwards, Terrance Jones, Esther Fortune, and Princess Drikore.

"We are incredibly proud of the graduates of Cohort 65. The path ahead is yours to shape—trust in your training, stay compassionate, and keep pushing forward. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors," said Practical Nursing Program Supervisor Stacy Delaney.

DCIU’s Practical Nursing Program continues to set a high standard for excellence, boasting an 89.8% NCLEX-PN pass rate—outperforming the national average—and an impressive 90% job placement rate post-graduation.
