DCTS/DCIU Science Kit Refurbishment

  • Science Kits used throughout the county can be refurbished by the Delaware County Technical High School (DCTS) as part of the Logistics and Inventory Management Program. The kit-based curriculum materials recommended by the National Science Resources Center in Washington DC are housed in the program and students are filling the needs of county school districts who use the kits as part of their kindergarten through middle school education courses. Science materials are aligned with the Pennsylvania Science and Ecology Standards, which focus school science programs across the state and provide a set of testable standards for science teaching.

The Science kits were formally refurbished as part of the Southeast Pennsylvania Regional Science Initiative (SEPARSI), which has been disbanded in Delaware County. However, the kit-refurbishment remains in tact. The yearly fee provided by each participating district was used to offset the cost of the replacement materials. A new system is now in place to ensure you continue to receive materials at the lowest cost possible. The pricing includes ordering, handling, shipping, and administrative costs.

    When To Order Refurbishment Parts

When a science unit has been completed, please order your refurbishment parts right away. This allows our students to fill the orders during the school year as part of their Logistics and Inventory curriculum. During the summer months DCTS is closed. Orders received after May 1st will be refurbished during the following September and October in order of receipt. Your help in placing an ordering ASAP after completing a science unit is critical to our program.

    Order Timeline

Please order two months (or 60 school days) in advance. Vendor order takes 2-3 weeks. Delivery takes 2 weeks. Delivery of Science Kit parts takes place two times per week ONLY.

The Delaware County Intermediate Unit provides kit and material delivery. Science refurbishment packages are picked up on Tuesday at DCTS, and then held at the IU until the weekday designated for delivery to your school. We are very grateful for this service provided by the Intermediate Unit.
