American Education Week (AEW) celebrates the many individuals who play a vital role supporting students and families while keeping our schools running and thriving. First observed in 1921, AEW is a time to highlight the power of public education, recognize the achievements within our schools, and honor those who are making a meaningful difference in ensuring every student receives a high-quality education.
Through the 2025 American Education Week Publication, join DCIU and the Delaware County school districts in honoring the remarkable work happening across our county’s school districts, where excellence in education is a daily commitment. Each district has contributed a unique story, offering a glimpse into the vibrant, inspiring initiatives that exemplify the heart and soul of their schools. These stories reflect only a fraction of the amazing efforts taking place across the districts and DCIU, each deserving of recognition and celebration.
The Delaware County Intermediate Unit (DCIU) provides programs and services to public school districts, nonpublic schools, and other human service organizations. The DCIU also serves as a liaison agent between county schools and the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
The Annual Report is a comprehensive summary of DCIU’s activities and accomplishments throughout the year.

The DCIU is divided into seven service divisions: Administrative and Support Services, Career and Technical Education
Services, Early Intervention, Early Childhood Education, Information Technology and System Services, Special Programs and Curriculum, Instruction and Professional Learning/Teaching, Learning and Innovation. These divisions oversee programs that directly and indirectly benefit thousands of students in Delaware County. Programs include instructional, remedial and enrichment services for regular, occupational and special education students and staff. Other DCIU services support school district personnel and school board members.
The diversity of Delaware County Intermediate Unit programs enables staff to interact with school district personnel at all levels and to maintain a cohesive educational network throughout Delaware County. The Program and Services Guide provides an overview of these key programs and services.
