The DCIU provides approximately $120 million in programs and services to serve Delaware County students and member districts and provides cost-effective services that demonstrate a substantial return on investment.

BUSINESS AND OPERATIONS

EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION

Early Head Start/Head Start provides a comprehensive child-development program serving preschool age children (ages 3, 4, or 5) that meet family income eligibility requirements. The goal is to increase school readiness and social competence of young children in low-income families. EHS/HS provide a range of services including early-childhood education, health, nutrition, family services, transition, parent engagement, services to English language learners, mental health supports, and language and cognitive development.

FACILITIES

The Facilities Department is responsible for the maintenance and custodial services of all Intermediate Unit facilities as well as managing warehousing and distribution of common use materials and supplies including:

  • Serves as Environmental Coordinator, Transportation Liaison for districts
  • Serves as the Intermediate Unit's Section 504 and Americans with Disabilities Act Coordinator
  • Administers Delaware County Joint Purchasing Board
  • Overall operation of the school lunch program

HUMAN RESOURCES

The Human Resources Department is a cohesive, collaborative team dedicated to working strategically with the diverse Delaware County Intermediate Unit community, staff, and administration in identifying and responding to changing needs in support of the DCIU’s mission and beliefs.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

ITS is responsible for developing and directing information technology IU-wide to public and nonpublic schools to increase effectiveness and reduce cost for the ultimate of all educational programs.  ITS also manages communications systems.

MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS

The Marketing and Communications Department supports the mission of DCIU by managing all aspects of internal and external communications. The department leads the development and execution of strategic communication initiatives, including publications, website content, special events, forums, and councils. It also oversees media relations, social media, and government relations to ensure consistent messaging and strong community engagement.

STUDENT SERVICES

The Division of Student Services is committed to providing every student and educator with the resources, tools and support they need to achieve their educational goals. The Division supports students and educators in our public, private, charter and home schools through direct service delivery as well as comprehensive services that promote student achievement, improve teacher quality and provide for the professional development of all educators. The Division provides planning, leadership and oversight for a broad range of programs essential to the success of students and educators.
