Preschool Special Education (Ages 3-5)

Early Intervention offers evaluations and support services for children who may have delays or disabilities in one or more areas:

• Adaptive skills (self-help skills)
• Cognitive skills (thinking and learning)
• Communication (understanding and using language)
• Physical development (movement, coordination)
• Social-emotional development (interacting and behavior)

If your child qualifies, we create an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) with services that may include:

• Speech and language therapy
• Occupational and physical therapy
• Special education instruction
• Family training and counseling
• Vision services
• Assistive technology
• Case management/service coordination

A member of our team will collect basic information and discuss your concerns.

Step 2: Complete Your Screening Packet

We will send you a packet by email to complete. This helps our team learn more about your child's strengths and needs.

Step 3: Evaluation

If needed, we schedule further assessments. Our professionals review the results with you and discuss what services may help.

Step 4: IEP and Services

If your child is eligible, we work with you to create an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Services may happen at your child's preschool, at a DCIU center, or another location that fits your family.

We provide services in the least restrictive environment, which means your child will receive support in a setting that promotes learning and participation alongside peers, like their preschool, child care center, or other natural learning space.
