DCIU Appoints New Career and Technical Education Program Administrator

Dr. Stephen Butz joins DCIU after eleven years as Superintendent of the Southeast Delco School District to take the helm of our career and technical education program. A highly experienced and knowledgeable leader. Dr. Butz is passionate about the right of every child to a high quality education and is committed to maintaining the highest personal and professional integrity in all that he does. He inspires that same commitment in those around him.

The DCIU Board of Directors appointed Dr. Butz at the November 6 Board meeting. Prior to becoming Superintendent, he was the Director of Pupil Services and Special Education with Southeast Delco. His previous experiences also include seven years as Supervisor of Pupil Services/Assistant Principal at the Bucks County Technical High School, and a total of eight years as a school social worker in the Bucks County area.

A lifelong learner, Dr. Butz received his bachelor's degree (summa cum laude) in social work from Lebanon Valley College; his Master of Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania; his Vocational Administrative Director Certification from Temple University, and his Doctor of Education in School Administration from Widener University.

He is a member of numerous professional and community organizations where he also holds many leadership positions. He has been a presenter at various national and state conferences on topics such as. "Turning Around High Poverty Schools" and "Effective Practices in Public School Negotiations."

Dr. Butz will begin his new role approximately 90 days from the date of appointment. ''We are honored to welcome Dr. Stephen Butz to the DCIU team," stated Dr. Maria Edelberg, Executive Director. "He is a skilled leader and administrator who understands the importance of providing students with the academic, technical and employability skills needed for postsecondary and workplace success, and we are excited to have him on board."
