Speech & Language Department

  • DCIU’s Speech-Language Pathologists provide speech and language services to children ages 3 to 21 who reside in Delaware County. Direct services consist of screenings, evaluations, and interventions for students with communication disorders and related areas including language, articulation, phonology, fluency, and voice.

Using a continuum of service delivery models, DCIU's Speech-Language Pathologists provide therapy services in a variety of settings including special education classrooms, non-public schools, speech-language therapy rooms, Head Start Programs, and preschools. Services are individualized based on the student's needs.

All DCIU Speech-Language Pathologists have Pennsylvania Department of Education certification. Additional certifications include Pennsylvania Professional License and ASHA’s Certificate of Clinical Competency.

The DCIU is an ASHA (American Speech, Language and Hearing Association) approved provider of continuing education units and sponsors workshops during the school year. Through these workshops, Speech-Language Pathologists are able to earn CEU's required for maintenance of their professional license and ASHA certification.
