Delaware County Intermediate Unit Scripps Spelling Bee

  • The Delaware County Intermediate Unit is proud to bring Delaware County Students the opportunity to participate in the Scripps National Spelling Bee program.  

    The Bee helps students improve their spelling, increase their vocabulary, learn concepts, and develop correct English usage that will help them all their lives. In addition to the academic benefits, students also develop important life skills that will help them as they advance in school and eventually to successful careers.

    2023 Competition 

    • Registration Deadline: January 31, 2023 
    • Last Date to Name School Champions: February 10, 2023 (2 champions per school)
    • Competition Date: February 25, 2023
      • 2 participants per school are eligible to participate in the county-wide Bee
    • National Competition: Late May 2023

    How to Participate

    In order for students to participate in the Delaware County Intermediate Unit spelling bee program, schools must enroll with Scripps National Spelling Bee. To enroll, teachers or administrators may visit spellingbee.com and select the Enrollment button in the upper right corner of the homepage. This will also serve as your registration with the Delaware County Intermediate Unit.

    Once enrolled, schools will receive exclusive access to information on holding your classroom and school-wide spelling bees, award certificates for participants and your school champions, and key information about the DCIU spelling bee program.
