Least Restrictive Environment / Inclusive Practices
Least restrictive environment is a principle that guides educational programs for students in need of an individual education plan. Inclusive education is intentional in its programming and views the needs of the individual student from not simply an academic perspective but also a transitional, behavioral, and social/emotional perspective. Delaware County Intermediate Unit’s Curriculum Instruction and Professional Learning Department provides training and consultation to IEP teams on maximizing access to the PA Core Standards and the general education curriculum with appropriate supplementary aids and services.
