24 Challenge

  • The 24 Challenge is a tournament-style competition organized around the 24 Game. Millions of students in more than 20 countries have participated since 1988. The competition is entering its fifth year at DCIU in 2019.

Over a period of months preceding the event, teachers use the 24 Game in their classrooms to help students hone their mathematics skills. Then - using the official rules made available through DCIU - schools or districts hold local or district-wide playoffs to determine which students will advance to our Championship Event!

    Student Registration

All students must be registered by Monday, May 20th. We are unable to accept unregistered students the day of the competition since all round 1 and 2 table assignments are made prior to the tournament. Links to the registration for each grade band are below.

    New Requirement

Every year the tournament is made possible by the hard work of volunteer proctors who have traditionally come from a few schools. Due to the tournament being split up over two days and changes in which schools are participating, it is necessary to shift the format to require every school to provide proctors. This is a great opportunity for AP Math students to volunteer and earn community service hours, since AP testing will be over. Parents, teachers, and chaperons can also serve as proctors. We will reach out to each district after the May 20th student registration deadline for the names of proctors.

The rule: A district must provide 1 proctor for every 4 students they bring to the tournament. (Please round up! E.g. If you are bringing 11 students you must provide 3 proctors)
