    Course Description

    Students prepare for the ASE accredited instructional program that emphasizes learning skills to diagnose, service and maintain all types of automobiles. Upon graduation, students will be eligible to take the ASE exam after completing one year of employment in the automotive field. Graduates of this program will be qualified to enter the automotive field as entry- level service technicians in new car dealerships or related automotive businesses.

    Participants who successfully complete this program will

    • diagnosing using equipment such as infrared engine analyzers, compression gauges, and computerized diagnostic devices
    • repair a variety of vehicle makes and models, both foreign and domestic
    • examine vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunctions
    • repair, reline, replace, and adjust brakes
    • perform routine and scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune-ups
    • repair and service air conditioning, heating, engine cooling, and electrical systems
    • tear down, repair, and rebuild faulty assemblies, such as power systems, steering systems, and linkages
    • disassemble units and inspect parts for wear, using micrometers, calipers, and gauges
    • repair or replace parts such as pistons, rods, gears, valves, and bearings
    • rewire ignition systems, lights, and instrument panels
    • install and repair accessories, such as radios, heaters, mirrors, and windshield wipers
    • overhaul or replace carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, and pumps
    • align vehicles’ front ends

    • High School Transcript or GED diploma
    • College Transcripts (if applicable)
    • Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal History, Child Abuse History Clearance
    • Physical Exam including: 2 step PPD, Drug Screen, Immunizations (MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu Vaccine
    • Attend student orientation/interview
