    Course Description

    Individuals interested in earning a Radiography Certification from the State Board of Dentistry in Pennsylvania must successfully pass the Dental Assisting National Board’s Radiation Health and Safety examination to obtain authorization to perform radiological procedures under the direct supervision of a licensed Dentist. This program prepares the student for the examination. Students will experience classroom activities that expose them to fundamental theories and clinical procedures, tooth identification, principles and techniques of exposing radiographs.

    • Dental Association National Board Radiation Health & Safety Certificate

    Participants who successfully complete this program will

    • be able to expose and evaluate intraoral and panoramic radiographs
    • be able to demonstrate an understanding of radiation safety and infection control procedures
    • be able to manually process dental radiographs
    • be able to mount and label dental radiographs
    • be prepared to take the Dental Radiology Certification Exam

    Requirements

    • Completed Application
    • Be at least 18 yrs. of age
    • High School Transcript or GED diploma
    • College Transcripts (if applicable)
    • Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal History, Child Abuse History Clearance
    • Physical Exam including: 2 step PPD, Drug Screen, Immunizations (MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu Vaccine
    • Attend student orientation/interview
