Delaware County Academy Program
-
A day program that offers instruction for secondary-level students who need a smaller setting to meet requirements for graduation, the Delaware County Academy (DCA) serves male and female students in grades 9 - 12, age 14 and older with IEPs.
DCA curriculum focuses primarily on the major subject areas and presents both traditional and computer-assisted instruction. The administration works closely with students’ home school districts to carefully monitor student progress and credit accrual and to prepare students to return to the home district's environment when feasible.
In an effort to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of DCA students, the administration and staff work closely with Delaware County school district personnel, youth and family agencies, private counseling/therapeutic organizations, the juvenile justice system, and local and state law enforcement agencies. Individual/group counseling, social/emotional instruction, and medication management are available on-site.
DCA uses a school-wide positive behavior support system. This small learning community prides itself on the ability to provide all students with individual attention both academically and behaviorally. Consistent communication with parents and community agencies help to assure the success of students upon returning to their home district or upon graduation.Contact
