Delaware County Academy Program
A day program that offers instruction for secondary level students who need a smaller setting to meet requirements for graduation, the Delaware County Academy (DCA) serves male and female students in grades 9 - 12, age 14 and older. DCA accepts students with or without IEPs.
DCA curriculum focuses primarily upon the major subject areas and presents both traditional and computer assisted instruction. The administration works closely with students’ home school districts to carefully monitor student progress and credit accrual and to prepare students to return to the home district environment when feasible.
In an effort to meet the academic, social and emotional needs of DCA students, the administration and staff work closely with Delaware County school district personnel, youth and family agencies, private counseling/therapeutic organizations, the juvenile justice system, and local and state law enforcement agencies. Mental health services are provided at DCA through Crozer-Community Division. Individual counseling, social skills groups, and medication management are available on site.
DCA uses a school-wide positive behavior support system. This small learning community prides itself on the ability to provide all students with individual attention both academically and behaviorally. Very close contact and communication with parents and community agencies help to assure the success of students upon return to their home district or upon graduation.
